What You Can Win

Little Spruce, our 1996 Toyota HiAce Van

Little Spruce is a right-hand drive Japanese import with a reliable 1KZ turbo diesel engine, full-time 4WD, triple moonroofs, with a little under 60,000 miles on the clock. In addition to loads of maintenance conducted by certified Japanese mechanics, she has new BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, a new Bluetooth stereo, and a backup camera.

But the beating heart of Little Spruce is the camper build-out done this summer by Wabi Works in Bellingham, WA, complete with a full Dometic kitchen. A Hest double mattress provides bunk space for two. Under the bunk are custom-designed rollout units, including storage, a built-in kitchen counter with cutting boards, a JetBoil Genesis Basecamp stove, and a Dometic CFX3 45 46-liter electric cooler, with power provided by two Dometic PLB40 power banks stored under the main cabin bench.

Reading material is provided by Advanture mag, issues 1-12. From—and for—those who call the road, home. Best read with a Joe done proper, VSSL know what’s up with a Nest Pour Over Kit + Java G25 Grinder added to the prize list. Not forgetting a $500 Passenger gift card... spend wisely.

Plus, as part of the contest and our commitment to Plant & Protect, we'll plant 1,000 trees in collab with long-time conservation partners Trees for the Future.

The Build

In collaboration with Wabi Works, Washington State USA.

At Passenger, we’ve got a soft spot for vintage rigs; real road experience, soul, style and plenty of stories still in the tank. Call us sentimental, but we believe in buying things we love and using them until they can’t be used any more. Repairing, reworking and passing things on.

We talk shop with Wabi Works’ Grayson Neal, a fixer and tinkerer by trade, thoughtful, principled designer and builder of custom cargo solutions. He turned out quite the conversion of our Little Spruce, complete with full Dometic kit-out and custom pull-out drawer system.

Wabi Sabi? We’re into it.

The competition closes at Midnight PST on Sunday, October 27th.

We’ll announce the winner on Wednesday, October 30th at 6pm PT on our Instagram Stories, so make sure you're following us @passengerclothing.

Unfortunately no. This contest is open to US residents only.

What kind of condition is Little Spruce in?

It’s 28 years old, with a little under 60,000 miles on the clock, and many adventures both in Japan and a few in recent months here stateside. But when it was imported last spring from Japan, it was given a full service by the importer.
