Friend of Passenger, Sarah-Jean (AKA The Oceans Leads Home) is a full time wanderer, vanlifer, storyteller and veteran of the road. The following is an ode to the ocean, the simple life and embracing the journey.
"I think it calls to us all, in time."

In the sound of waves breaking on untouched shores, the whistle of possibility calling down tree-lined paths carving their way through mountain voids toward hidden coastlines.
The road less travelled; the life of the unknown.
It isn’t for all of us, though call us it may.
Yet the winnowed of us cannot ignore the perpetual echo, the tapping at the window, the breeze biting at our ankles ushering “go, go, go”.
"And so we go. And it is there we find it. A quiet."
A silent knowing shared between kindred souls as waves roll beyond horizons and coves; the roar of water embracing water as it tumbles ashore, something so pure and all-encompassing it can hardly be explained by words alone.
But when you know, you know.
For it is all you hear.
With each setting sun and every breaking dawn.
A calling.
"A distant whisper carried from shores afar."
Convincing enough to rip bedsheets from bodies, coax bleary-eyes into dew-covered vehicles, and navigate the way along un-adopted byways. We find ourselves perched, as birds on a wire would, silhouetted against the outskirts of car parks and clifftops, breath visibly escaping toward outstretched arms pointing at peaks peeling across the horizon.
The raw romance of nature and man. A connection so primitive it feels ingrained into the very bones of us; wrapped around wind-chapped lips and salt burnt skin, enveloped in stories shared over crackling fires, and revisited in memories left to inspire dreams.

And so we go.
Wandering forward along these tracks seldom followed, walked by few before and few to come after us – all searching for the same solace in life on the open road.
It calls all of our hearts in time, this yearning for a life of simplicity; far from the complexities and confinements of a concrete-existence, we step out into the glowing uncertainty of the path unknown.
And it is here we find ourselves.
And in ourselves, we find what we set out into the world searching for.
With wide eyes and open minds.
We learn the true meaning in understanding that wherever your heart is, there is your home.
