Place tape measure under your arms around your back and across the centre of your chest.
Waist
Measure around the narrowest point basically just above your naval keeping the tape slightly loose.
Hips
Measure the widest part of your hip. Make sure you keep your feet together when measuring.

Was going to return this jacket as I thought it was a bit short in the body but I decided to give it a chance and I'm glad I did. This jacket has been ideal during the recent cold weather on the school run and when out and about. Not worn it in the rain yet and not tried packing it down into itself yet but they're minor considerations for me personally.
Got an L and it's surprisingly roomy - I can wear a hoodie/sweatshirt under it comfortably.
Colour looks great too!
